Shipping Setup
Configure a truthful checkout rate and produce labels for seller-fulfilled order lines. Shipping setup is part of Ready to sell.
Open Shipping (/shipping) in Partner Portal.
What is currently supported
| Surface | Current contract |
|---|---|
| Shipping readiness | A saved default shipping profile or at least one shipping rule satisfies the shipping step. Partner Portal shows the authoritative readiness result. |
| Rules | Create, edit, prioritise, enable, disable, and delete seller-scoped rules. |
| Rate calculator | Test a destination postcode and parcel weight against the current profile/rules. No result means configuration is incomplete; it is not a promise of free shipping. |
| Provider catalogue | Operator-managed, read-only carrier/service catalogue. Sellers cannot add credentials or create providers through the currently supported seller controls. |
| Zones | No standalone seller zone editor is currently available. Express geographic coverage through supported rule conditions. |
| Labels | Buy individual or batch labels for eligible accepted, seller_fulfilled order lines. |
| Tracking | View stored label and tracking state where the selected service supplies it. |
| Dashboard metrics | Label-derived shipment counts and costs. Carrier-grade delay and on-time delivery metrics remain unavailable until sufficient carrier event and promised-delivery history exists. |
Do not use Provider Management controls to create, edit, or delete a carrier. Those controls are not a supported seller workflow. If the catalogue or a required service is missing, contact seller support.
Configure the first checkout rule
- Open Shipping → Rules.
- Create a clearly named rule, such as
Domestic standard under 5 kg. - Add only the conditions you can honour. Supported rule fields include weight, order value, quantity, destination, category, and dimensions.
- Add the outcome: set a rate, select an available provider, add a surcharge, offer free shipping, or restrict methods.
- Set priority deliberately. The rule engine evaluates active rules using their configured priority and conditions.
- Enable the rule and return to the Shipping rate calculator.
- Test at least one expected postcode/weight and one boundary case before relying on the rule at checkout.
If Partner Portal still reports shipping incomplete, check Seller Readiness. A persistent sender/origin profile is account data distinct from the read-only provider catalogue; complete it through the onboarding/support path available to your account.
Quote interpretation
A quote is valid only for the inputs and configuration used at that moment. Check:
- destination postcode and parcel weight;
- which rule was applied;
- displayed price and delivery estimate, if one is returned;
- whether tracking and insurance are available for the service.
The calculator is a configuration check, not evidence of carrier delivery performance. Do not publish an on-time percentage or guaranteed arrival date from it.
Dispatch and labels
Use Orders for the normal fulfilment path:
- Accept each order line you can fulfil.
- For an accepted
seller_fulfilledline, either purchase a label or enter the carrier and tracking number when dispatching. - Print the label, attach it to the parcel, and hand it to the selected service.
- Confirm that the order line shows the dispatched/tracking state.
Supplier-dropship and platform-fulfilled lines do not become seller-label eligible merely because they appear in your order. Their tracking advances from the assigned fulfilment service.
Batch label generation is limited to eligible lines. A partial batch can succeed for some lines and report failures for others; reconcile the result before packing parcels.
Operational checks
- Keep stock current before accepting an order.
- Use realistic weights and destination rules; an underquoted rate remains your commercial risk.
- Review stored label costs, not unavailable on-time/delay cards, when checking the current dashboard.
- Seller dispatch performance currently measures acceptance-to-label-purchase against your selected dispatch tier. It is not the same as carrier transit or delivered-on-time performance.
- Void an unused label through the label workflow where the carrier permits it; never reuse a tracking number for another parcel.
