Seller Content and Media Standards

Use these standards for product titles, descriptions, images, video, provenance claims, and other material you provide to OKNowShop.

This is a content standard, not a promise of a separate user-generated-content (UGC) dashboard. The current seller workflow is product management and listing curation. If a dedicated content or UGC area is not visible in Partner Portal, manage listing material through Products and use in-portal support for an exception.

Before you submit content

You must have the right to publish every asset and claim. Keep the underlying evidence because OKNowShop may ask for it during curation or after a complaint.

  • Use original or properly licensed text, photos, video, logos, and music.
  • Obtain permission before using a customer's image, name, testimonial, or other personal information.
  • Do not present stock photography as the product actually supplied.
  • Do not manufacture reviews, endorsements, scarcity, origin, certification, or performance claims.
  • Keep claims consistent across the title, description, specifications, images, packaging, and fulfilment promise.

Listing copy

Good copy lets a buyer understand what will arrive and whether it suits their needs.

  • Use the product's real name, variant, dimensions, materials, quantity, and included accessories.
  • State important exclusions, compatibility limits, care instructions, hazards, and age restrictions where relevant.
  • Describe condition accurately. Do not call refurbished, seconds, display, or used stock “new”.
  • Avoid unsupported superlatives such as “best”, “safest”, “non-toxic”, or “guaranteed”.
  • Do not add competitor names merely to capture search traffic.

Images and video

  • Show the product clearly and keep colour, scale, packaging, and included items representative.
  • Use a primary image that identifies the product without promotional clutter.
  • Add useful secondary views for details a buyer cannot infer from the primary image.
  • Do not include third-party watermarks, personal contact details, misleading badges, or claims that the marketplace has not granted.
  • Keep files within the limits shown by the upload control. Those controls, not numbers copied into this handbook, are the current product contract.

Origin, sustainability, and certification claims

Claims about where a product comes from, how it is made, or what standards it meets must be specific and supportable. This includes:

  • Australian-owned, Australian-designed, Australian-made, or locally produced;
  • handmade, artisan-made, or small-batch;
  • organic, fair trade, recycled, recyclable, biodegradable, or carbon-related;
  • safety, quality, medical, therapeutic, electrical, or materials certifications.

State exactly what the evidence supports. A seller-provided local-origin field is self-attested unless the product carries a distinct marketplace-reviewed verification state. Do not describe it as “verified” merely because the field was accepted by a form.

Reviews and testimonials

Currently, a public product rating and count appear only when eligible verified-purchase customer ratings exist. Editorial or mixed scores are not shown. Public review text, seller replies, response templates, and review campaigns are not part of the supported seller workflow.

Do not import or publish testimonial text as though it were a verified OKNowShop customer review. Use order-linked messages, returns, or support for an individual customer's operational issue.

Moderation and corrections

Content may be held, rejected, unpublished, or returned for correction when it is misleading, unlawful, unsafe, irrelevant, low quality, unauthorised, or inconsistent with the product record.

There is no automatic-publication or fixed 24-hour review promise in this guide. The status shown on the listing and any curation reason returned in Partner Portal are authoritative. Correct the evidence or content named in that reason; use in-portal support if the reason appears to refer to the wrong product or asset.

Australian Consumer Law

Product descriptions and extra promises do not replace the automatic consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law. Do not publish a fixed “six month” or “one year” limit on those rights: the relevant remedy and reasonable durability depend on the product, the problem, and the circumstances.

For operational return and refund steps, see Returns and Disputes. For the marketplace principles, see Fair Go Principles.
