Gift Cards

OKNowShop gift cards are marketplace-wide stored value. A buyer selects a currently offered amount, pays through the marketplace checkout, and the recipient receives a claim link for their OKNowShop wallet.

Current flow

Buyer pays → payment clears → recipient receives claim link →
recipient claims wallet balance → balance can be applied at checkout

The public purchase page currently offers preset values from $5 to $250. The customer-facing controls shown at purchase time are the supported retail offer; do not promise values that are not shown there.

Gift cards expire three years after purchase. Australian rules generally require gift cards to remain redeemable for at least three years; they do not require every gift card to have no expiry. See ACCC gift-card rules.

What this means for sellers

  • Sellers do not create or fulfil the gift card itself.
  • A claimed card becomes marketplace wallet balance.
  • At checkout, the buyer can apply available balance and pay any remainder through the supported payment method.
  • Product-order revenue, fees, tax, fulfilment, refunds, and payout treatment still follow the product order's current records and seller agreement.

Do not describe gift-card spend as a seller discount. It is a payment against stored marketplace value. Also do not promise that gift cards increase order value, acquisition, or repeat purchase without evidence from a defined measurement.

Gift cards and loyalty

Gift-card balance and loyalty coupons are separate:

Gift-card balanceLoyalty coupon
SourcePurchased and claimedRedeemed from the marketplace reward catalogue
Checkout treatmentStored-value paymentDiscount subject to the coupon's scope and rules
ExpiryThree years from gift-card purchaseShown on the issued coupon
Seller configurationNoneNone in the current seller workflow

Checkout can apply gift-card balance alongside an otherwise eligible coupon. The checkout record remains authoritative for what was actually applied.

Refund boundary

Do not promise that every product refund automatically returns to gift-card balance. Refund allocation depends on the original tender, the authorised return/refund path, and the resulting payment and wallet records. Confirm those records before telling a customer where or when funds will arrive.

A refund of the gift-card purchase itself is a different event and may require unclaimed value to be cancelled or claimed wallet value to be recovered. Escalate any shortfall or mismatch for manual review.

Wallet passes

The platform contains Apple Wallet and Google Wallet support, but pass availability depends on the configured provider and customer device. The marketplace wallet and checkout balance are the durable value record; a device pass is a presentation layer.
